What makes a good leader? Core skills include;
Leadership works on many levels, including self-leadership, leading others within and even across a defined organisational or community structure. This may include working across a range of different cultures and legal entities or communities.
Leadership starts from within and the skills of being able to be present in the moment and making judgements and decisions based on real time information can be a huge challenge, particularly in times of stress.
Social and Emotional Intelligence is also another key skill. Knowledge and an ability to describe your own inner world and values allows the Leader to become aware of and change any inherent and bias and prejudices. This is particularly important when working across cultures. An ability to listen and process not only to the surface facts but also the values and assumptions that are driving opinions is key.
"Leadership is not a position or title, it is an action and example."
